ED LENT HAS BEEN A CREATIVE AND ARTISTIC FORCE FOR MOST OF HIS PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL LIFE. STARTING FROM AN INDUSTRIAL ARTS AWARD FOR SCULPTURE IN HIGH SCHOOL TO A B.S. IN ART EDUCATION, HE’S EXPLORED ART FROM PAINTING AND SCULPTURE TO ART HISTORY AND ARCHEOLOGY, FROM CERAMICS AND TEXTILES, TO RETAIL AND WHOLESALE SHOWROOM AND INTERIOR DESIGN TO PRODUCT DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT AND MERCHANDISING. WHILE WORKING INTERNATIONALLY WITH NORITAKE CHINA CO, INC. HE WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO TRAVEL THE WORLD AND VISIT ART MUSEUMS AND ARTISTS OF MANY COUNTRIES AND CULTURES. THIS CONTINUED A CREATIVE CURIOSITY AND ARTISTIC AWARENESS FROM A GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE.

ART HAD ALWAYS HAD A SIGNIFICANT PLACE IN HIS LIFE, BUT IT USUALLY HAD BEEN IN CERAMICS OR SCULPTURAL WORK. IT WASN’T UNTIL THE RECENT DEATH OF MOTHER, HIS FINAL PARENT, THAT PAINTING BECAME A DEDICATED NEAR DAILY CREATIVITY. SO MUCH SO THAT HE HAS TWO STUDIOS, ONE IN MADISON CT. AND ONE IN GUILFORD, CT. AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE GUILFORD ART LEAGUE, MADISON ART SOCIETY AND THE SHORELINE ARTS ALLIANCE, THERE IS ALMOST ALWAYS A WORK OR TWO ON EXHIBIT AT A LOCAL COMMUNITY CENTER, GALLERY, OR LIBRARY SHOW. PRIVATE STUDIO APPOINTMENTS ARE ALWAYS ENCOURAGED.

16 YEARS AGO HE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH M.S. AND RETIRED DUE TO BECOMING DISABLED. SOON AFTER, LENT HAD A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE THAT LED HIM TOWARDS “HEARING POETRY” IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS. AFTER YEARS OF WRITING THE POEMS DOWN, HIS EDITED VERSIONS BECAME HIS FIRST BOOK OF POETRY; AS ABOVE, SO BELOW (https://bit.ly/2Jj8q56). HE HAS CONTINUED ON JOINING MANY NATIONAL AND LOCAL POETRY GROUPS, WORKING ON MORE BOOKS AND LEADING OPEN MICS AND WRITING WORKSHOPS.

ALTHOUGH ORIGINALLY STARTING HIS DEGREE IN SCIENCE AND PRE-DENTISTRY, ITS CLEAR ALL OF EDWARD’S EXPERIENCE IN BIOLOGY, PSYCHOLOGY AND CHEMISTRY HASN’T GONE TO WASTE, NOR HIS TEACHING DEGREE IN ART WHICH, NOW COMBINED WITH HIS WORK IN ART AND POETRY, IGNITES HIS ENTHUSIASM FOR EKPHRASTIC POETRY.

SOLD APRIL 2024

As an independent artist who supports art and artists by being a member of the Guilford Art League, The Madison Art Society and the Shoreline Arts Alliance, besides creating art, the other joy I get to have is selling art of course- which allows me to talk with buyers and hear their understanding and appreciation for the art they purchased. Recently collectors in Pound Ridge, Westchester County, NY wanted to update their interior with some refreshed new art works by moving some existing pieces around while adding several new ones. I was fortunate enough to be part of that day and as always am astounded of how pieces work together.

The ‘mirrors in the sky ‘ piece adds a window like opening to visually escape to. Its lightness opens up the space and reflective qualities from the silver leaf enhances the bleached lightness in the interior. The piece works to enhance the setting yet focuses the eye to its own niche, keeping the door passage area to feel open and uncluttered.

Elegant and clean, there’s a sophisticated simplicity in the Scandinavian lines of the bench and the crafted and painted woods of the cabinet and pearlized ceramic floor vase. They work together to blend but with an original collected but curated viewpoint.

An “Eclipse of Memory”, also purchased for a loft area, as shown above.

This art work, a very intense and signature style work, extends the color from the larger existing piece on the left and visually widens the upper space, while at the same time repeating the moon like element of the lighting.

Note how blues in the the larger art are pulled out as well as the actual sky blues from the windows. allow this piece to shine yet enhance the use of mixed metallics and clean naturals.

See Below- these are now on exhibit at the Kalta Gallery in Guilford. These and 8 other pieces will be on display till October. Kalta Riham, Dentist652 Boston Post Road. suite 12.

Another thing I really enjoy doing is putting art out on loan- many businesses don’t have a budget for original art so they find prints and use these to decorate. There is no doubt that better art makes for a better impression.

This is the new ‘Kalta Gallery’ as I like to call it. Dr.Kalta is my dentist and she allowed me to exhibit my work in her offices and patient rooms. It looks fantastic. I’ll rotate the works a few times a year. Def-win/win, she gets great art, clients enjoy it and I get to exhibit and perhaps sell a piece.
